Hi Everyone!
Thank you for joining me today for this very important Blog Hop!!
I am joining forces with some friends from all around the world to bring awareness for people living with autism.
Although I do not have any personal experience with a person with autism, I do have friends that do, and so, I am very honoured to have been asked to take part in this Hop.
- According to Autism Speaks Canada, 1 in 68 children are currently diagnosed with the autism spectrum disorder.
- The prevalence of ASD has increased over 100% in the last 10 years.
- Autism is now the fastest growing and most commonly diagnosed neurological disorder in Canada
- Autism occurs in all racial, ethnic and socio-economic groups.
- Autism is a lifelong spectrum disorder.
- Early intervention can make a lifetime of difference
- No two people with autism are the same, not even identical twins. If you’ve met one person with autism, you’ve met one person with autism.
The colour for Autism is light blue and one of the recognized symbols for autism is a puzzle piece, I chose these two symbols to create my card around.
I did a very soft water colour wash on the background of my card using Soft Sky ink. I created my puzzle pieces by using one of the small Layering Squares Framelits Dies and my 1/2″ circle punch. I wanted to keep my sentiment soft as well so I chose to ink up my sentiment from the Ribbon of Courage stamp set in Soft Sky ink. My embellishments are from the Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes, I just coloured them in with my Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blends.
Here are the measurements for my card;
Sof Sky cardstock, cut to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/4″
Whisper White cardstock, cut to 5-3/8″ x 4-1/8″
Soft Sky cardstock, cut to 5-1/4″ x 4″
Shimmery White cardstock, cut to 5-1/8″ x 3-7/8″
Soft Sky cardstock, cut to 4-1/8″ x 1-1/2″
Whisper White cardstock, cut to 4″ x 1-3/8″
Soft Sky cardstock, dies cut using the Layering Squares and then holes punched using the 1/2″ Circle Punch.
