Good Morning and Happy Saturday!
Today is a very special day for me, it is my first borns birthday. Happy Birthday Damon, momma loves you so very much!!!!
I find it hard to believe Damon is 24 today, crazy how the time flies! Isn’t he just so handsome! I am so very proud of the man my son has become and the life he is making for himself!!
Keeping with tradition today we are going out to dinner and a movie as a family. I love this tradition and feel so blessed that my children still want to be doing things like this with their mom and dad. The birthday boy has chosen Earls Kitchen to eat at and then we are seeing Kingsman: The Secret Service. Because we are also a golfing family (well 4 out of the 5 of us are, we still haven’t converted Danielle yet…) our first stop is to Golf Town as Damon is looking for some new golf clubs, what a fun day we have ahead of us!!!
The card I created for Damon uses Balloon Bash, such a great set!!For this card I used a couple of different techniques, one I have shared with you before.
The base of the card has slight circle images, this was created by inking up my embossing folder (the raised image side) slightly and then sliding my card stock into it. Gently pressing down with my hand to transfer some of the inked image onto the card stock creates this look. Be careful not to shift the card stock and lift the top of the embossing folder carefully so you don’t get a smudged image.
The next trick is a super cool one I saw while watching the live streaming of SU’s Leadership at the end of January. They demonstrated this technique using the Sheltering Tree stamp set, I thought that as Balloon Bash was also a photopolymer stamp set I could use it to get that cool effect.
For this technique you need a photopolymer stamp set as it is clear. You place your stamp on backwards onto your clear block so it it a smooth image that you are inking up. Use a lighter colour to create the shadow effect for your stamped image. Clean and dry your stamp then flip it around the correct way so your image is now getting inked up. Choose a darker ink this time, line your stamp up over top of your first stamped image and stamp. That is one of the beautiful things about photopolymer, it is clear so you can see exactly where you are stamping so you can do this fun techinque!!
I hope you try both of these fun techniques yourself the next time you are stamping. If you don’t have any photopolymer stamp sets yet you can order yours right here from me simply by going to the top of the page and clicking the Shop Now button and it will take you to my online store.
Thank you for stopping by today.
