Hi everyone!
Today is a different kind of post as I have no card to share with you.
Yesterday my sisters and I (I was the driver) went across the border for some shopping, Target and the mall was our destination, but first we needed to pick up some vitamins Anne had ordered in for us.
Well, things did not go as planned…
We picked up Anne’s order at the postal depot and headed back towards the mall. We took the exit and approached the large intersection, I had slowed down as, A: we were on an off ramp, B: there were stop lights at the intersection coming up, halfway to the lights, they changed from Red to Green.
I proceeded to enter the intersection as I had the green light, we were in the middle of the intersection when it happened. A little black Audi had decided to run the red light and we hit him.
I did not see him coming as the light was green and there were two other cars to the left of me, one in the turning lane and one in the straight through lane, they had been at a full stop so they were not as far into the intersection as we were.
The other driver called the police, fire department and paramedics. I had hit my head on my window but was okay, my sisters were okay as well. We were all very shaken up and upset. My little sister Carole who works for an insurance broker stepped up and took charge of everything, it must have been the adrenaline as she went into full on take charge mode, thank goodness!!! She took a ton of photos of my Explorer, the Audi, asked all kinds of questions and called her husband and had her daughter come across to pick us up. I was in tears and could barely talk to my husband on the phone.
The other driver took full responsibility for the accident and has full insurance the very kind police officer told us, thank goodness!
Obviously my vehicle was not drive-able and needed to be towed, as did the Audi.
We went into the Bob Evans restaurant that was right there while we waited for the police to be done with the other driver to come and talk to us, and wait for Naomi to arrive to bring us back home. Anne and Carole ordered something to drink, I was too shaken up and not feeling well, so I passed. The kind waitress told us that the beverages were on the house as we had been through enough. She was so very kind.
I can not say enough good things about the American police, paramedics, tow truck driver, fire department, they were very kind to us three badly shaken up Canadian ladies.
If you are running late for an appointment, or whatever, please, slow down, always stop at a red light, it is not worth risking everything for a few extra seconds. It is not just you that is out there, there are others on the road that your decisions affect as well.
We are very, very lucky as things could have been so much worse.
We truly did have an angel watching over us yesterday, and I am very thankful!!
Be safe.
Hugs,
Marcy
