Hi everyone!
Today’s blog post (and video) is part of the Creating Kindness Blog Hop for March, our theme is Maritime and our guest designer is the uber talented Christine Wrede
When I think of Maritime, I think of sea creatures and plants, so I pulled out my Shark Frenzy Bundle (from the J – J Mini Catalogue) and Whale Of A Time Designer Series Paper (from the Annual Catalogue) to start creating my card. As this card was going to be for my son’s 30th birthday (you are never to old for a fun card!), I brought in the Happy Birthday stamp from the Hey Birthday Chick stamp set (J-J Mini) to add the greeting, and then as I was building a scene I thought “wouldn’t it be fun for sharky to be holding a sign” so I pulled out the Hey Chick Dies (out of publication offering along with the Hey Chick stamp set) as it has a fun sign die, I masked the one stamp from the Hey Birthday Chick so that I just had the Celebrate sentiment to stamp on my card.
I am thrilled with how my card turned out, and Damon got a kick out of it as well!
Here are the supplies and measurements;
Pool Party cardstock base – 8″ x 4-1/4″, scored at 1-1/4″, 2-1/2″, 5-1/2″ and 6-3/4″, plus a scrap to die cut out the sign
Pretty Peacock cardstock – 4 pieces that measure 1-1/8″ x 4-1/8″, 2 pieces that measure 2-7/8″ x 4-1/8″ (one for the front and one for the back as shown in video)
Thick Basic White cardstock – a piece to stamp, colour and die cut out the shark
Calypso Coral cardstock – a scrap to die cut out the fish (I used the Blending Brushes and coordinating ink pad to darken the fish as well as the Dark Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blend to go around the edges)
Granny Apple Green cardstock – a scrap to die cut out the sea weed pieces
Basic White cardstock – 2-3/4″ x 4″ for the back of the card to write your message to the recipient as shown in the video
Whale Of A Time 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper – I used the one pattern to create the background scene – 4 pieces cut to 1″ x 4″ and one piece 2-3/4″ x 4″
Window Sheets – a strip that measures 1″ x 5″, if you want your strip to go across the entire card front then cut it to 1″ x 5-1/2″
