Hello and Happy Tuesday!
We had quite the storm here yesterday at dinner time and through the night, there was quite a lot of flooding in the area because of it. My son Connor got the day off as the golf course he works at is flooded, I think it will be a few days before the water levels return to normal.
The card I am sharing with you today is one I CASEd from the very talented Krista Frattin, she had posted this card on her blog and had detailed instructions on how she watercolours. Well let me tell you that after years (yes I have tried for years) of unsuccessful attempts at watercolouring I have finally (WOOHOO) gotten it so that I am happy with it and it did not end up in the garbage can!!
This is all thanks to Krista, thank you so very much Krista, you have opened up a whole new world to me!!
Let me share with you her pearls of wisdom.
Step 1 : cut your watercolour paper to the desired size.
Step 2 : take a clean paint brush and dip it in a bowl of clear water so your paint brush is wet.
Step 3 : using your wet paint brush, apply water to your card (this helps to paper accept the watercolour better)
Step 4 : in a non porous container (like a empty container lid) place a couple of drops of reinker, or use your ink pad and squeeze it to transfer the ink to the lid for you to pick up the ink from there. I used my Soft Sky reinker.
Step 5 : dip your paintbrush back into the bowl of water so it is good and wet, then pick up your ink from your lid container and brush it onto your watercolour paper.
Remember the more ink you use the darker the colour will be. Because it is watercolouring the look you get will always be different, and that is the beauty of watercolouring, it is always slightly different. My card is so light and subtle that it doesn’t show up as pretty as it is in person.I embossed my sentiment first before watercolouring using my Versa Mark and Gold Embossing Powder.
I also used some of the new Gold Metallic Thread and a gold Metallic Foil Doilie, Love Them!!!
The stamp set I used is a Hostess set called Best Thoughts, it is so pretty and can only be purchased with a qualifying order of $200 or more.
I hope my card and instructions get you to try watercolouring if you haven’t before, it really is so much fun!!
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you have a great day!
